Volunteer Opportunities

As a member-driven organization, participation from our membership is key to the success of our programs. Help us better help you by serving on one of the following committees. Members who volunteer their time on a committee find that they gain visibility and valuable relationships much more quickly than other members. People like to do business with other people they know, like and trust. As a committee member, you are seen as someone who cares and is vested in the Chamber and the community. For no more than two to three hours per month depending on the committee, the return on your investment of time is well worth it.

  • Annual Golf Outing Committee – serves from February-June
  • Annual Property Showcase Committee – serves from April-September
  • Annual Awards & Recognition Gala Committee – serves from July-November
  • Hilton Fall Festival Committee – serves from June-October
  • Charity Poker – volunteers needed in January, May & late September

In addition, many of our events require extra volunteers for the day of the event.
If you are interested in learning more about any of these committees or volunteering, please contact the Chamber at 248.542.2160 or info@ferndalechamber.com.

Ambassadors

Ambassadors are highly visible, prestigious volunteers who serve as the Chamber’s primary liaison to new and renewing Chamber members. Considered the goodwill arm of the Chamber, the Ambassador committee plays an essential role in member communication and retention, and each Ambassador is charged with conveying member needs, questions and concerns to Chamber staff, keeping our Chamber in line with our members’ desires.

Upon their appointment, each Ambassador makes a commitment to build lasting relationships with the Chamber membership, particularly new members, in order to build a loyal, committed membership base that will continue to support, participate in and invest in the Chamber.

Ambassadors actively promote membership in the Chamber, facilitate networking among members and encourage meaningful participation and involvement in Chamber programs in order to enhance the membership benefits received by each member, strengthen member commitment and increase long-term member retention. Ambassadors will each receive monthly new member assignments, and Ambassadors can expect to spend 1-3 hours per month on their Ambassador duties. In exchange for their time commitment and advocacy Ambassadors earn incentives. To learn more about the program and download application forms, click here.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors are Chamber members who volunteer their time serving as the governing arm of the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce. Elected by their fellow members during an annual election, Board members serve two year terms (up to five consecutive terms) and set the policies and procedures for the Chamber. Board Members attend monthly Board meetings to discuss policies and set the direction for events and programs that the staff carries out. In addition, Board Members particpate in an annual Strategic Planning session to set the short and long-term goals and strategies for the Chamber.

Responsibilities also include many of those expected of Ambassadors such as actively promoting membership in the Ferndale Area Chamber and encouraging membership particpation. Board Members often serve on special event committees as well.

Board Members typically show their commitment to the Chamber by first serving on one or more of the above committees or as an Ambassador. Board Members must apply to have their name on the election ballot. Elections are help early December each year for terms that will begin January of the next year.
